Wild winds continue in Taranaki

Over 1000 people are without power in South Taranaki as strong winds batter the region.

The fire service has responded to dozens of weather related call outs since last night.

Lines company Power Co have reported faults in coastal and South Taranaki.

A severe weather watch is in place as winds are expected to reach up to 120km/h today.

A number of flights in and out of New Plymouth airport have been cancelled.
