BAY OF PLENTY

There are many highlights throughout the academic year at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic but the biggest and most exciting of them all actually happens once the year is completed – Graduation.

Six ceremonies are run over three days comprising four schools: 555 graduates from Design & Humanities, 345 from Applied Technology, 357 from Applied Science and 698 from Business - 1955 graduates in total!

For many, crossing the stage at Holy Trinity marks a milestone that is the culmination of months and years of hard work. It’s not just high achievers we see graduate but those with learning difficulties, grandparents, single parents - a vast cross-section of our society, all united in their efforts to achieve success.

This year our line-up of graduates included national award and competition winners across many disciplines. From level 2 foundation programmes to degree level qualifications the nerves and excitement at the formal raduation ceremonies were felt by all.

Dr. Helen Anderson, Academic Director, said the graduation ceremonies were great occasions looked forward to by staff and students alike. “Graduation honours the achievements of our students and provides a really impressive picture of the region's potential and talent. It's a significant pleasure to attend graduation ceremonies and see the outcomes of our incredibly capable staff in partnership with great students engaging in transformative learning.”

Certificate in Radio graduate Cameron Strachan-Langdon was excited to be graduating.

“I’ve had a fantastic experience at the Polytechnic. I’ve got so many great memories. I’m excited for the future and the opportunities that my qualification will bring.”

Congratulations to all our 2013 graduates!
