In honour of Madame Clicquot Ponsardin, ‘The Grand Dame of Champagne’ and the namesake behind the Veuve Clicquot brand, Kiwi footwear designer Kathryn Wilson has created a stunning limited edition heel named ‘The Ponsardin’ for one of the most celebrated fashion events of the year, the Veuve Clicquot polo in 2014.

The exquisite ‘Ponsardin’ glitters with a stunning application of gemstones decorating the heel’s leather upper.  Inspired by Veuve Clicquot’s shimmering bubbles and golden hue, The Ponsardin is an elegant accessory for the polo this summer.

Kathryn’s role as an ambassador for Veuve Clicquot was a perfect platform for The Ponsardin to be realized.

“Madame Clicquot Ponsardin was a fantastic muse for this limited edition heel” says Kathryn.  “She embodied elegance, grace and fine taste, along with business savvy and confidence – the perfect Kathryn Wilson woman.  What better way to celebrate her than with her very own shoe, to be worn at the most glamorous event this summer!”

Available in nude, black and cobalt blue colour variations, The Ponsardin will be available for purchase at kathrynwilson.com and Kathryn Wilson stores from February 2014 for $329.00, just in time for the Veuve Clicquot polo (21 – 23 February).

Madame Clicquot Ponsardin, was a French businesswoman who took on her husband’s wine business when widowed at the age of 27.  Under her ownership and her skill with wine, the company revolutionised the way champagne is made. The brand and company of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin still bears her name.
