A Cambridge business is giving locals the chance to have their picture taken with Kate and Wills in a unique photographic opportunity.

House of Travel Cambridge has created a life sized cardboard model of the pair to give fans their chance to get up close and personal with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and win the chance to see them in person.

Business manager Pieta Mace says there is a huge amount of excitement about the royal couple’s impending visit and says it makes sense for her travel agency to be involved.

“Everybody just loves Kate and William and as a travel company we book flights and accommodation for a lot of people travelling to England.  Buckingham Palace with all its royal pomp and ceremony is usually high on the list of must see opportunities. Now they are coming here it’s awesome to be caught up in the buzz,” she says.

Those wanting to take the opportunity to have their picture taken with the royals can do so as part of a House of Travel competition.

“All entrants need to do is pop into the store, take their picture with the royal stand-in couple and upload their picture to Facebook, tagging House of Travel Cambridge,” she says.

Those who secure the most likes by 5pm Friday April 11,  will win a double entry pass for the formal opening of the Home of Cycling’s Avantidrome on Saturday 12th April, which will be attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The competition will run from Wednesday 2nd April to 5pm Friday 11th April.

The team at House of Travel Cambridge has also created a ‘Royal’ window image with a peak through hole in the shape of a crown to view a Devonshire tea setting complete with Royal Dalton and Cucumber Sandwiches in the gardens of Kensington Palace.

The House of Travel Cambridge uniform is royal purple and in honour of the impending visit, is also being worn by the staff with a tiara to complete the picture.

Pieta says other businesses have also dressed their windows as part of a local competition and it is important to get behind such a prestigious visit. Winning would simply be “a lovely bonus”, she says.

The royals are expected to arrive in Cambridge on Saturday April 12.
