Missing boy found

LATEST: The missing 11 year old boy has since been found safe and well. 

A large scale major search operation was in full action last night when a 11 year old South Taranaki boy went missing 26km East of Stratford. 

The boy, now found had downs syndrome and their was a big worry for his safety. 

Emergency services, friends, family and the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter were involved in the search. 

The helicopter was searching using Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) and night vision systems to try and locate the boy however stood down after visability became poor and conditions became dangerous for the crew.

Ground search teams were actively trying to locate the boy, and when the boy was found it was music to all those involved in the search. 

The boy was reportedly with a dog when he went missing. 

The boy was found well and safe.

A ground search for a young missing 11 year old down syndromes boy will continue into the morning in South Taranaki.

Last night at around 11pm the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter got the call that said a young boy was missing and that they were needed.

One hour from New Plymouth City, 26km East of Stratford is the area of Tututawa where the missing boy is expected to be. 

The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was searching using Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) and night vision systems to try and locate the boy however stood down after visability became poor and conditions became dangerous for the crew.

Ground search teams have now begun to find the boy and these searches will continue into the morning. 

The search includes emergency services, friends and family of the missing boy. 

The boy was reportedly with a dog when he was reported missing.

If you saw a young boy around the area between 9pm and 6am call 111 urgently.
