Budding Fashion Designers listen up - registrations for the Newmarket Young Designer Fashion Awards 2014 are open!
In its sixth year running, the Newmarket Young Fashion Designer Awards serve to fast-track incredible up and coming talent. Young people with a love for all things fashion, textiles and design can now register for the national competition, with an amazing opportunity to make their fashion designer dreams come true.
Event organiser Donna Corbel from the Newmarket Business Association says they are honored to be hosting the event again this year, as it supports young designers and gives them a platform to showcase their talent:
“Newmarket is the fashion capital of New Zealand, so we’re all about encouraging up-and-coming designers. The awards will kick start the winners’ careers and provide them with valuable experience, and we’re proud to be a part of it.“
Aspiring designers nationwide can enter the Junior (16-17 years) or Senior (18-19 years) category, with a range of prizes in each to encourage and foster talent.
The senior prize includes a two-year scholarship for Whitecliffe College of Arts and Design, a two-week internship with New Zealand’s taylor boutique and a trip to Australian Fashion Week for the ultimate backstage experience with M.A.C.
The winner of the junior category will also receive hands-on designer experience with a two-week internship at RUBY and Liam’s head office, among other prizes.
