Pedestrian's hit by car in seperate incidents

BREAKING NEWS: Two people have been seriously injured in two different incidents tonight in New Plymouth, police and witnesses are reporting.

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car in New Plymouth tonight. 

Inspector Dave Rose from police central communications said the crash happened outside Spotswood Primary School  about 5.20pm. 

The pedestrian was treated on the scene and had been taken to hospital by St John Ambulance, he said. 

Speed restrictions are in place while police conduct a scene examination and the car is towed, he said.

The second pedestrian was hit on Vivian Street on New Plymouth's one way system. Police and ambulances were also in attendance.

The pedestrian hit on Vivian Street has been taken to Taranaki Base Hospital in an unknown condition. The incident was seen by witnesses at 6pm.
