The team at Clive Hair Clinics recently received the following letter from one of their clients in Melbourne, Australia, which is typical of the type of response they receive on a regular basis from grateful people all over Australasia.

“I’ve had alopecia for five years now, and either tried or considered practically every treatment available. When I walked into Clive Clinics for the first time, I had around 18% of my hair still on my head. It was brittle, thin and almost brown in colour. Now, a little over 18 months later since my first appointment, I have around 92% coverage. The quality of my hair has also improved incredibly, and is now strong with its natural red pigment. Extensive massaging, morning vitamin and mineral supplements, and other treatments (such as maxanol, formula and pre-shampoo, shampoo, and rinse) prescribed to me have worked incredibly well to date, and I couldn’t be happier with the ongoing results. Michael has been very considerate and thorough, and my parents and I have been very impressed by his knowledge and experience with hair loss.”

Alopecia Areata (hair loss in circular patches), is a common type of hair loss that can affect women, men and children. This is considered to be an Autonomic Nervous System disorder and can be triggered by many varied factors, but is usually associated with stress. If left untreated some forms of Alopecia can cause permanent hair loss, so for anyone who is concerned about their hair loss Clive Hair Clinics recommend that they book a consultation with a Trichologist to obtain a professional diagnosis and treatment. The alopecia disorder often runs in families and may be an inherited inability to uplift specific amino acids from the diet when under stress. Most commonly a few patches (approximately 4cm diameter) of baldness rapidly occur, sometimes overlapping, sometimes in completely different areas.

Steroids both externally applied and/or injected into the patches will sometimes release hair growth, but the hair often falls out again when the therapy is discontinued. Clive Clinics does not undertake this form of treatment as it is felt the steroids may take over from white corpuscles that are attacking the hair roots on (misguided) instructions from the defence mechanisms involved in the Autonomic Nervous System. Instead they recommend alternative therapies, including the missing Amino Acid L. Tyrosine along with stimulation which is often successful. The positive aspect of this problem is the hair normally fully recovers once the stress is overcome.
