Plume Restaurant + Pure Matakana Grape Juice and Olive Oil

100% Pure Matakana Grape Juice is now available at Plume, the vineyard restaurant, Matakana, filling a long standing need in the community for a “Matakana” Grape Juice. Runner Duck Estate has made this Grape Juice from the grapes growing on their Vineyard, specifically Syrah and Malbec grapes. These are not table grapes but actual “wine grapes” picked at 18 Brix of the 2014 vintage, with no added sugar or preservatives, just pure Matakana Grape Juice from their own vineyard.

Matakana Grape Juice is best served chilled. Some like to dilute it a little with ice and some like to have it with soda for a “sparkling grape juice” and kids love it and delight in poking out their little purple tongues after finishing it!  A lot of the older generation say the first sip reminds them of “Ribena” and the younger generation, find it to be delightful, fabulous, sweet a and luscious.  A very apt description for the same was provided by an Aussie tourist visiting Plume Restaurant for a Wine Tasting and Lunch – “LIQUID DESSERT!”

For the very first time in many years, Plume Restaurant have bottled their Olive Oil and this is now available for sale at the Cellar Door of Runner Duck Estate at Plume, the vineyard restaurant, Matakana. Their 11 ha property at Duck Creek Road, lying just to the south of Matakana and some 65 kms north of Auckland,  has about 3 ha of olives planted on it.  The region is known for its fresh produce, artisan vineyards and a temperate coastal climate with plenty of sunshine on clay loam soils giving their oil a “distinctive character”.  Their vineyard has two huge Olive Groves – one has always borne fruit – the other NEVER which is rather strange.  When the experts were called in they were told that the cultivar planted would never grow in New Zealand – so everything was uprooted and new plants put it – these are still growing!

However, this year they have bottled their Olive Oil, “certified” EXTRA VIRGIN – the EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)  0% Cholesterol/Sugar/Sodium, Total Fat Per Serve 15 gms, Saturated Fat Per Serve 2 gms – EVOO is part of the healthy Mediterranean diet.  The Runner Duck EVOO is fruity and has delicious herby flavours – TRY ONE TODAY – available at Plume, the vineyard restaurant, Matakana.
