Choosing the right bed can be difficult. There is so much conflicting information and an awful lot of advertising jargon that simply tells the customer nothing! The friendly but very professional team at Bedmakers offer practical and informative advice on choosing the right bed for their customers. Bedmakers make beds and that’s all they do, and they are experts at meeting their customers’ individual requirements.

There are some very simple things to consider, and the first is the spring. Bedmakers have two types, the Bonnell spring (inner sprung) and the Pocket spring (individual springs in pockets). The Bonnell spring is a cost effective option featuring strong springs which have an edge wire around the spring unit for extra stability. This spring is tried and true and carries a ten year warranty. Bedmakers Bonnell springs are manufactured right here in New Zealand and have NEVER BEEN COMPRESSED, unlike inferior imported springs!

The other option is the Pocket spring. Pocket springs sit in individual woven pockets and the whole unit is contained in a high density foam box (solid sides). This system is designed to eliminate movement and is particularly effective for couples who disturb each other while sleeping. Everybody has different requirements and budgets.  At Bedmakers they work with customers to get the best sleeping option for the right price.

The Bedmakers team advise that another important consideration when purchasing a mattress is what type of support is required. Believe it or not some mattresses simply don’t contain any support at all. This is where it gets tricky! There are many mattresses that look great but are made up of low density soft product that compresses, leaving the customer with pressure points and aches and pains. At Bedmakers they use two types of support, high density Elephant foam and Natural Latex. Both these support products are effective in different ways. The Elephant foam is man-made and offers a firm consistent support whereas the Natural latex is a contouring support; it sits close and relieves pressure.

For anyone wanting to discuss their bed requirements, Bedmakers have a showroom attached to the factory at 22 Clark Street, New Lynn, Auckland.  They are open Monday through to Saturday 10-4pm and, as they say, “WE ARE A BED MANUFACTURER AND WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!”
