Marcus Armstrong is the son of Toyota CEO Rick Armstrong and at 14 he is one of the youngest winners of a national saloon car race, taking a decisive victory at the last round of the TR86 One Make Race Class run by Toyota New Zealand. Marcus is looking to take his second race this month at Pukekohe Park Raceway, and Auckland City Toyota are very proud to sponsor such a rising talent within motorsport. Marcus is one of New Zealand’s most promising racing talents and is dedicated to all aspects of the sport in order to maximize his performance, ranging from his academic studies to fitness. Marcus has been karting for the past five years and has racked up an impressive list of national and international achievements with five national titles to his name along with 3rd at USA SuperNationals and a podium in the final round of the European Rotax Championships, giving Marcus 6th overall in the championship.

Many motorsport pundits are watching Marcus’ career intently as he competes not just in TR86 but is also having success in his Formula Ford debut and he already has five national Karting titles to his name. So far this year Marcus has raced in German and World karting championships, and is currently third in the competitive Euromax Rotax kart championship in Europe. Some people are drawing comparisons between Marcus and Scott Dixon’s early career.

Marcus’s car looks amazing with vibrant Auckland City Toyota livery and he will be gunning for his second race win this month at the Pukekohe Park Raceway where the TR 86 will be a supporting class for the popular V8 SuperTourers. The race-ready TR 86 takes driving where very few sports cars dare to go – the race track. To prove its place as the ultimate turn-key race car 86 has its own official one-make race series which started November 2013.

The calendar for the Championship’s second season is designed to take drivers to some of the most popular circuits in the inaugural championship and challenge them with the addition of Ruapuna and Teretonga, two tracks new to the series in the 2014-2015 championship. Season one saw some fantastic close racing from some of the rising stars of New Zealand motorsport with a total of 18 drivers contesting the series.
