Here is an interesting fact. This summer, around the world, Allianz Global Assistance (Worldcare) helped one person every 15 seconds.

Some overseas countries enjoyed a beautiful Indian summer, and others are just now experiencing southern summer heat, but for the vast majority, the summer holidays are over. Throughout July and August, Allianz Global Assistance was at the ready, responding to peaks in its activity linked to this summer season, and reinforcing its automotive and medical operational teams to ensure and preserve customer satisfaction and service quality. In that two-month period, Allianz Global Assistance assisted in 1,425,000 cases , or one person every 15 seconds.

While holidays are a good time to explore new tastes and flavours and rediscover your love of sports, they are not risk-free. Indeed, food poisoning, injuries and accidents represented more than 40,000 cases worldwide. When embarking on these new experiences it’s best to have good insurance coverage because medical costs vary greatly from country to country, for instance; gastroenteritis in St. Domingo can cost 3,010 €; a wounded or sore knee in Greece 3,523 €, and acute bronchitis in Montreal 25,000€! And if you are in the United States and need to go to the emergency room, costs can escalate to 53,000 €**.

Medical repatriations are rare and very often linked to cases that are much more serious and cannot be treated onsite where the holidaymaker is staying. In total this summer, Allianz Global Assistance staff organised 770 repatriations during the two summer months.

International leader in assistance, travel insurance and health, life and home care services, today Allianz Global Assistance’s global family counts more than 13 224 employees who live to help. They speak 58 different languages and work throughout the world with a network of 400,000 service providers and 180 correspondents. 250 million people, or 4% of the world’s total population, benefit from its services, which the Group provides on all five continents.
