West Auckland Physio has introduced an ALL ACC Claims FREE Of Charge service for Physiotherapy and Chinese Acupuncture, with no referral necessary. They are an accredited ACC provider, certified by HDANZ and provide a wide range of services, including one to one physical training, for both injury rehabilitation and sports conditioning.  They can design an exercise programme as part of the treatment if desired, and their physiotherapists will assess their patients’particular needs to put them on the path back to full mobility and a pain-free life.

In addition to physiotherapy services, West Auckland Physio provide quality, affordable products to help their patients get the most from their treatments, whether it be exercise bands, posture braces, sports tape or TENS machines.

Acupuncture treatment is one of the range of physio services offered by West Auckland Physio, and traditional Chinese medicine explains that health is the complementary extremes of Yin and Yang of the life force known as Chi. Chi. is said to follow through meridians (pathways) in the human body. Through 350 acupuncture points in the body these meridians and energy flows may be accessed. Illness is said to be the consequence of an imbalance of the forces. If needles are inserted into these points with appropriate combinations it is said that the energy flow can be brought back into proper balance. Acupuncture points are seen by western practitioners as places where nerves, muscles and connective tissue can be stimulated thus increasing blood flow while at the same time triggering the activity of our body’s natural painkillers.

Biomechanics is the study of human motion with regard to the action of external and internal forces on the living body, especially on the muscles and bones. It is closely related to engineering because it often uses traditional engineering science to analyse biological systems and is important when determining what causes injuries and therefore how we can prevent them reoccurring.

West Auckland Physio’s manual techniques include Manual Therapy which involves manipulation, mobilization or massage of the joints or soft tissues of the body to restore mobility or function and Manipulation which involves a small amplitude quick movement direct at a specific joint with the aim of restoring movement and or reducing pain. Mobilization involves a slower controlled process of joint or soft tissue (muscle) stretching intended to improve bio – mechanical elasticity. (i.e. to restore or improve range of motion and function).

The professional team at West Auckland Physio work with their patients to restore mobility, strength and function, so they can return to their normal work and leisure activities. They actively involve their patients in their own healing process and believe this teamwork approach promotes early recovery and a faster return to full mobility and pain free function.
