Donna Is Part Of The Winning Team On Gladiator

Owned and skippered by Ken and Donna Pascoe and operating out of the Viaduct Basin, Gladiator is one of Auckland's leading charter boats. Gladiator is available for hire for any period of time from three hours to three weeks and offers the most competitive charter boat rates in Auckland. Ken’s wife, Donna, regularly gets out on their 55 foot Salthouse sports fisher, Gladiator and spends time talking to all the fishing captains, and she then passes on all her knowledge to her lucky clients.

Gladiator recently competed in the National fishing tournament which started on 21 February and finished on the last day of February, with over 1600 anglers fishing throughout New Zealand. Gladiator was out at the Three Kings and, as usual, Donna blew most of the opposition out of the water with wins for the Most Tagged and Released Striped Marlin section, scooping up NINE marlin. She also won the New Zealand Champion Billfish Angler for Striped Marlin and, along with the marlin she also caught a Shortbill Spearfish which she tagged and released, which meant that Gladiator and Donna came 3rd in the Team Champions for Striped Marlin.

Let’s face it, with this measure of success, no wonder everyone wants to be on the same boat as Donna! However, the real thrill for Donna was when she won the biggest fish, world and New Zealand record for a Pacific Blue Fin tuna, and world and New Zealand all tackle record Pacific Blue Fin tuna, ratified by the IGFA, the world body that runs fishing rules for the world, which goes with her last year’s world record Bronze Whaler Shark. She also won the IGFA Anglers Choice Award for Best World Record for 2014 for her Pacific Blue Fin tuna and the IGFA’s Angling Achievement Award ceremony for this is on April 18, 2015 at the IGFA headquarters in Fort Lauderdale in Florida and she and Ken will be attending.
