A Rangi Ruru Girls’ School scholarship acknowledging the significance of 2014 is on offer for the first time.

Last year Rangi proudly celebrated her 125th birthday and now a special ‘125th Scholarship’ is to be awarded to a new Year 9 entrant.

Principal Julie Moor says this significant scholarship will be awarded to an applicant who shows strength and potential in two or more areas including academic, cultural, sporting, citizenship and leadership.

“We are proud to be able to make this available following such an important milestone in Rangi’s history, our 125th birthday last year. The 125th scholarship is specifically for an ‘all-rounder’ and will contribute up to 50% fees for five years,” she says.

Only a little more than a week remains before the Rangi Ruru Scholarship Registration deadline of 4.00pm, 14 May. There is no charge for sitting the scholarship examinations.

Other scholarships for 2016 include academic scholarships for Year 7 entrance and music, academic, and boarding for Year 9, and “all round” scholarships at all Year levels for girls who show academic, cultural, sporting, citizenship or leadership strength and potential, and the Rangi Ruru Old Girls’ Association two year Scholarship for Year 7.

The student awarded the Rangi Ruru Old Girls’ Association scholarship does not need to be a descendant of an Old Girl.

Rangi Ruru is consistently in the top 3% of New Zealand schools for academic achievement and is equally proud of the school’s pastoral care and family focused environment.

“We put personal wellbeing at the heart of all be do, says Julie Moor. “At Rangi, we understand girls. They are at the centre of everything we do."

Rangi provides a broad curriculum choice and small classes enabling more personalised teaching and learning. There are more than 36 subject options from Sciences, Mathematics, Music, Visual Arts and English through to Media Studies, Languages, Drama and Classics. Co-curricular opportunities include music, dance, drama, and 30 sporting codes under the guidance of more than 75 coaches, catering for a wide variety of interests and abilities. Scholarship registration close off date is 14 May 2015 at 4.00pm.
