The game fishing season has now ended and Gladiator and her crew are back in Auckland at the Viaduct and time to reflect on the Gladiator Marine experience. It's been an incredibly successful and enjoyable three months targeting big fish in the far North, giving Gladiator Marine’s fishermen and women the experience of a lifetime.

The majority of Gladiator’s trips during the game fishing season are multi-day trips, with the guests enjoying the luxury of staying on board the boat, with all the comforts of home, including Sky TV, roast dinners and full cooked breakfasts every morning, along with the spacious sleeping arrangements for all the guests.

As Gladiator Marine’s Marcus Hazeldine says, “This year was a real ‘game changer’ for us, with the Gyro Stabiliser system which was installed last winter proving to be worth its weight in gold (and this thing isn’t light!). The Gyro has completely transformed the boat, not only while fishing but also at night when guests are enjoying a few drinks and celebrating the day’s catch, plus it gives the anglers that all important good night’s sleep to wake up and do it all over again the next day! We found that many guest left saying that they simply couldn’t book a trip on another boat knowing how comfortable and stable Gladiator is. Overall, this fantastic piece of equipment has allowed us to offer our guests an unsurpassed level of comfort on the water and we couldn’t be happier with it.”

The hard-working team at Gladiator Marine have wasted no time getting the boat out of the water, swapping one of the engines within a week, with the intention of swapping the other one so Gladiator will be running on beautiful fresh engines. This should all be done in time for two trips to the Wanganella Banks for some epic fishing and the potential to add a world record or two for Donna Pascoe, co-owner of Gladiator Marine with her husband, Ken. Incidentally, Ken and Donna recently went to the IGFA annual prize giving event in Miami where Donna received her award for ‘The Best World Record of 2014’ for her Northern Pacific Bluefin Tuna.

As Marcus reports, “It also means that along with a steady and busy schedule of winter maintenance and cleaning we will hit the ground running for the upcoming corporate season here in Auckland followed by another successful season in the Far North. Without doubt it's Gladiator's commitment to the highest quality boat maintenance and upkeep, along with the crew dedication and passion to offer fantastic fishing and experiences to everyone who steps on board that the boat secures itself right at the top of the list as New Zealand's premier charter boat.”
