As our thoughts turn to spring, so do brides start to plan their spring wedding and Plume Restaurant and Vineyard are more than ready for the spring/summer wedding season to begin. This is not to say that they haven’t been kept busy with weddings during the winter months, but spring feels like a good time to plan a wedding and to find out what Plume Restaurant has to offer.

Plume isn’t just a restaurant, but also offers award-winning wines from their Runner Duck Vineyard, their new pure Matakana grape juice and, of course, their own olive oil. Vintage 2014 was another great year for quantities and quality of grapes produced and follows closely the great years for Matakana of 2010 and  2013. The vineyards will soon be into the flowering mode and quickly heading thereafter to fruitset in December, veraison in early February and then the vintage will be harvested around April 2016 closing the 10th vintage for Runner Duck in Matakana.

Also now available at Plume Restaurant is their new 100% Pure Matakana Grape Juice, which fills a long standing need in the community, and provides a delicious non-alcoholic option for diners. Runner Duck Estate has made their Grape Juice from the grapes growing on their Vineyard – Syrah and Merlot grapes - these are not table grapes but actual “wine grapes” picked at 18 Brix of the 2014 vintage, containing no added sugar or preservatives.

Pure Matakana Grape Juice is best served chilled, some like to dilute it a little with ice – some like to have it with soda for a “sparkling grape juice” and kids love it, and a very apt description for the Grape Juice from an Aussie tourist visiting for a Wine Tasting and lunch was “LIQUID DESSERT!” It is now available to take home at the Cellar Door of Runner Duck Estate at Plume.

Plume is a modern character restaurant with views over the rolling valleys below, providing the perfect backdrop for any occasion and is in a secluded area on the stunning Matakana Wine Trail. With Father’s Day coming up on the 6th of September this year, this would be a brilliant day out for dad, driving the short distance from Auckland to indulge in a wine and grape tasting before settling in for a magical lunch.

Offering both indoor and patio dining, Plume are open for Lunch Wed to Sun 11am-3pm, Wine Tastings 11am – 4pm Wednesday to Friday, 10am – 4pm Saturday and Sunday, Dinner 6pm onwards on Friday and Saturday. Go to http://www.plumerestaurant.co.nz today to book for Father’s Day.
