MedSailors have recently launched their 2016 season and the good news for those who are thinking of sailing to Turkey in the near future is that they have extended their sailing season around the Turkish coast with twice as many sailing weeks as they offered in 2015. Of course the Northern hemisphere summer is conveniently, for Kiwis, is when we are experiencing winter, so the thought of a fabulous Mediterranean sailing holiday in deepest, darkest winter should spur us on to think about booking our holiday now, as MedSailors’ comprehensive cruises tend to be booked out very quickly.

MedSailors offer skippered sailing holidays for 20-35 year olds and choosing a sailing holiday with MedSailors is one of the best ways to enjoy the sights and sounds that the Mediterranean has to offer, and for those who have never been to Turkey before, MedSailors have a stunning yachting trip to all of Turkey’s beautiful ports and beaches.

MedSailors’ seven-day sailing route takes in the very best of what Turkey has to offer, starting from the Fethiye Marina which is just a short hop from Dalaman International Airport. From Fethiye MedSailors sail to the stunning bay of Karacaoren for a bit of snorkelling or paddle boarding before sampling Turkish ‘delights’ at one of Karacaoren’s traditional tavernas.

Next day it is on to Kas where there is snorkelling in the natural wonder of the Blue Cave, before arriving at this unspoilt fishing village boasting historic ruins and a lively harbour. From there the MedSailors’ yacht sails to the Turkish fishing town of Kalkan, close to the pristine, 12km sandy Patara beach and the stunning Saklikent Gorge, as well as the world-famous Unesco sites of Letoon and Xanthos. Kalkan boasts a very sophisticated and buzzing nightlife, great for the younger set.

Next it is on to Cold Water Bay – named after the spring that feeds the bay - the clue’s in the title as to why it’ll be refreshing - and from there, guests can wander the fascinating ghost town of Kayakoy before feasting in a local taverna. From here the MedSailors team go on to explore the fascinating historic island of Gemiler, where people can go paragliding over the famous Oludeniz beach, before sailing into the bustling town of Gocek where there is one of the liveliest fish markets in Europe for a feast fit for a king.

From there MedSailors sail into Turkey’s naturally beautiful Skopea Limani Bay, renowned as one of the most stunning sailing areas in Turkey. After a hearty breakfast, a swim and a friendly yacht race, guests can look forward to a traditional Turkish feast that night. The next day MedSailors sail into Fethiye for the end of a fabulous Mediterranean sailing holiday.
