Lloyd Stone, owner of Arena Court Motor Lodge, is expecting an influx of cricket fans seeking accommodation when the Black Caps play Australia at Seddon Park this coming Monday, 8th February.
Arena Court Motor Lodge is a stone’s throw from Seddon Park, making it an ideal place for cricket fans to stay while they’re in Hamilton.
“It’s about five or six minutes’ walk from Arena Court to Seddon Park,” says Lloyd, who won’t be attending the game himself because he will be manning the reception desk and phone at Arena Court, one of TripAdvisor’s top-rated Motels in Hamilton.
Lloyd says February and March will be exciting months, with a range of events happening in Hamilton. Guests staying at Arena Court will be in the advantageous position of being within walking distance of most of them.
Coming up this weekend, besides the cricket, there will be horse racing at Te Rapa Racecourse on Saturday 6th and the WaiBOP United v Canterbury United soccer match at FMG Stadium Waikato on Sunday 7th.
“This weekend it’s Bang! Bang! Bang! Three biggies,” says Lloyd. “And on Friday at Founders theatre is the national youth orchestra playing. So we’re covering all bases.”
As Lloyd points out, next weekend is ladies’ day at Te Rapa Racecourse, which ties in with Valentine’s Day. “Bring your partner and stay the night,” he says. “We’ve got a couple of King Spa suites. All the rooms have got guest select Sky decoders and stereo systems for in house entertainment”.
Also coming up shortly will be Riding with the Stars on 12th and 13th February at Claudelands Arena, Clash of the Titans on 20th February, also at Claudelands and Waikato Creative Market, which is running now and will continue until 6th March.
Towards the end of February the Chiefs games will be starting, “so people should start thinking about the chief’s program and getting bookings done,” says Lloyd.
