BAY OF PLENTY

Bay of Plenty Polytechnic will be offering another level to sport and exercise study in 2016 with two new programmes   ̶̶   the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise.

Peter Sommers, Group Leader Sport & Recreation, says being able to offer the graduate level courses is an exciting opportunity for people in the Bay as they are ideal for those either wanting a change of career or to gain skills and an internationally recognised qualification in the sport, health and exercise sector.

“These qualifications are crafted specifically for those who want to pursue or enhance a career in sport, health and exercise,” says Peter.  “Applicants need to hold a Bachelor’s Degree [in any subject] and have an interest in sport, health and exercise. For those who don’t have a degree, we will review entry on a case by case basis for those who have considerable experience in the sport and exercise field – ideal for people wanting a formal qualification to back their years of experience up.”

The Graduate Certificate is a one year full-time programme while the Graduate Diploma is a two year full-time programme. Part-time options for those who wish to continue working while they study are also available. Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise are also eligible to progress onto Postgraduate study.

Students are able to select papers to suit their career goals, including: Exercise Science, Sports Leadership, Nutrition and Community Health, Performance Analysis, amongst many others.

These two graduate programmes will be offered to complement the Polytechnic’s suite of sport and fitness offerings which include the popular Certificate in Fitness, Certificate in Sport and Health Massage and Bachelor of Sport and Recreation.

Applications for the Graduate Certificate in Sport and Exercise and the Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise are now open. For more information or to apply, visit boppoly.ac.nz or call 0800 BOPPOLY.
