You know when the school year is about to begin when all the academic results from the previous year start to come in. However, this is always a time for celebration at Saint Kentigern College as they persistently reach the highest standards in both NCEA and the International Baccalaureate Diploma results.

To this end, the 2015 results in both NCEA and the International Baccalaureate Diploma qualifications were extremely good with a pleasing increase in the number of NCEA students gaining Excellence Endorsements across all three levels of this qualification. Overall, the majority of Saint Kentigern students can be proud of their achievements with the vast majority gaining their respective NCEA Level Certificate and IB Diploma and 90.03% of students overall gained University Entrance.

Of further note, there has been an increasingly large number of students who have gained high enough results to be awarded Saint Kentigern Academic Colours and Honours, testament to student effort to achieve at the highest level.

The majority of students at Saint Kentigern College sit the NCEA and the college is extremely proud that the measurable indicators at all three levels of the qualification have shown improvement on the previous year. Of greatest note is the continued rise in the number of students who have strived for and attained either a Merit or Excellence Endorsement.

At a special assembly on January 29, Academic Colours and Honours were awarded to the school’s highest achieving Senior School students. In recognition of students who strive to achieve at the highest academic levels, Saint Kentigern College awards Academic Colours and Honours twice a year. Those awarded in Term 1 are recognised for their achievement in either, the end of year internal examinations for our International Baccalaureate students, or all Achievement Standards taken by NCEA students from the previous year (2015).

At the completion of Semester 1, the mid-year point the highest achieving students across all year levels are recognised at a further special Academic Colours and Honours assembly. The latter are based on Semester 1 student report results. The standard set to gain Academic Awards is high and intended to motivate the school’s top academic students to achieve at the highest levels of excellence and they are extremely pleased that the number of students attaining Colours and Honours is growing each year, showing students’ commitment to achieving at their personal best, a philosophy promoted to students.
