New Zealand owned business, Voltex Electrical, has found a fun way to support the Cancer Society this Daffodil Day.

Daffodil day will be held on Friday 26 August this year and Voltex, New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of electrical equipment and accessories, is right behind it.

“For every order that goes out from the 17th until the 24th of August, we will be putting a daffodil in with the order,” says Voltex’s Business Development and Marketing Manager, Douglas Waite.

“We’ve purchased the daffodils from the cancer society so with every order we’re making a contribution by buying a daffodil and sending it to our customers.

“Along with the daffodil, we put in a little card which gives the customer some information about Daffodil Day and which day to wear their daffodil.   The card also has a number which they can text to donate three dollars themselves.”

Daffodil Day is one of the most important fundraising and awareness events in the Cancer Society’s calendar and it’s a cause Voltex is keen to get behind.

“It’s certainly a worthy cause,” says Mr Waite, “especially since many New Zealanders have had family or friends affected by cancer.”

Donations from Daffodil Day go towards research into the causes and treatment of all types of cancer, as well as providing a range of support services and awareness campaigns for people affected by cancer.

The Cancer Society's CEO, Claire Austin, says positive progress has been made in the last twelve months around cancer care in New Zealand and she encourages business and individuals to get behind Daffodil Day.

“We want to continue to advocate and continue to provide quality care for cancer patients and their whanau in New Zealand and we are confident Daffodil Day will allow us to do that,” she says.
