Last month saw another fantastic climbing competition in Auckland in the CNZ National Cup series for 2016 and, as always, the spirit of climbing was very much in evidence, with climbers of all ages, from 9 to 50 giving their all to try to get to the tops of challenging routes. The routes themselves were superbly built by Ian Ambrose and Pete Lofthouse, with the help of local Auckland setters, at the Extreme Edge Gym, Glen Eden owned by Darrin Worsfold.

Glen Eden Extreme Edge gym offers a number of courses for kids and adults, and their Rock Hoppers and Hopper Plus courses give kids and young adults the insight and training that they need to become an expert on the ropes. Darrin and his team also offer one-on-one tuition for both kids and adults. This is where they pair kids with one of their rock climbing experts to learn rock climbing tips and tricks unique each kid’s ability. The team at Glen Eden Extreme Edge gym also say there are plenty of things that people can do to get started on their rock climbing training right at home.

Darrin was recently interviewed on TVNZ One’s Sports News, with the announcement that climbing will be included in the 2020 Olympics. On September the 10th, Extreme Edge Glen Eden are hosting the Auckland Secondary Schools climbing competition, round 3, and for more information on this and on the gym itself, please visit the website at http://www.extremeedgegleneden.co.nz .
