As we rush towards the summer wedding season, we could certainly use some advice from Farida Cooper of Plume Vineyard Restaurant as to finding the perfect wedding venue. As Farida recently blogged in her “10 Tips to Find the Perfect Fit”.

As Farida explains, choosing the perfect wedding venue is the most important thing to consider for that special day, and providing a comfortable and memorable atmosphere for friends and family will create memories that will be treasured forever. So, first of all Farida advises, people think long and hard about the guest list, and whether they want an intimate wedding or a big extravaganza.

The next most important tip is to settle on a budget and Farida advises that people shouldn’t spend any more than 50% of their whole wedding budget on the venue. Thirdly, she advises that if people can be more flexible on the date and choose an off-season month, they should be able to get a better rate. Regarding the actual venue, everyone loves a natural landscape, such as a beachfront, park reserve, or a vineyard, which provides a beautiful setting which will reduce the need to spend big money on décor. Similarly, the venue needs to have good lighting, making the photographer’s job easier, as wedding photos are something we treasure forever.

Next Farida says to think about how guests will get from A to B, making sure the venue has plenty of parking, and also that there is a selection of local accommodation nearby. And, most sensibly, she advises that brides have a ‘Plan B’ for bad weather. Before booking a venue they should ask what the plan is for unpredictable weather and make sure that they approve the backup spaces the venue offers.

Farida also recommends an on-site coordinator to solve any problems that may arise on the day, and the bridal party should also insist on tasting the in-house catering before deciding on the venue. Finally, she says, “Choose a venue that feels like home”.

Plume is set in the rolling hills of Matakana, providing a glorious and intimate setting for your special day, and can oblige with all the tips mentioned by Farida. Just 60 minutes from Auckland City, yet surrounded by the rustic vines of the local wineries, Plume is the perfect venue for your wedding.
