Hamilton Motel Argent Motor Lodge Observes Braemar Hospital's 90th Year

Hamilton’s award-winning accommodation provider, Argent Motor Lodge, is thrilled to be the closest motel to Braemar Hospital, as the hospital celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
Only 350 metres from Braemar Hospital and right next to Waikato Hospital, Argent Motor Lodge often hosts guests who are using the hospitals, whether as patients or visiting family or friends.
Braemar Hospital was established in 1926, to replace the original hospital which had been on Tainui Street since 1924. The original hospital was known as Tirohia Maternity Hospital and was later converted to a medical and surgical centre.
A lot has changed in 90 years, including Braemar Hospital’s location, now on the corner of Ohaupo Road and Kahikatea Drive. This is within walking distance from Argent Motor Lodge, although Argent’s owner Graeme Hunt is happy to drive his guests to the hospital and make sure they are handed over to Braemar’s caring and attentive staff.
Tracey Noorland, executive assistant at Braemar Hospital, says the private, 85-bed hospital has gone from strength to strength in its 90 year history.
“We’re delighted,” says Ms Noorland. “90 years is a real accomplishment.”
Ms Noorland says having Argent Motor Lodge so close to Braemar Hospital is convenient for patients and staff.
“Argent is a very nice place to stay and we have a close association with them. Not only do patients and visitors to the hospital stay at Argent, our temporary clinical staff often stay there, too.”
