Mt  Roskill By-Election candidate Roshan Nauhria  says Fairfax media's decision to exclude him from  its  candidates debate to be held on Wednesday night in the electorate shows exactly why New Zealand needs a new political party.

"Until our mainstream media understand that it is not good enough to ignore the views of a large and growing part of our society, New Zealand is going to be a poorer place".

“No one in New Zealand knows what the opinion on housing is from an Kiwi Indian, you never hear the voice of NZ Chinese when it comes to immigration issues and when are our Auckland Polynesian people given a chance to comment on issues of law and order?

This debate was a chance to have these voices represented. It is this inequality in representation that the NZ People’s Party is going to change”.

Fairfax Media was asked to review the decision and come back with a decision by 11am today but there has been no further correspondence, Mr Nauhria see’s it as a catalyst for change; “The people of Mt Roskill are tired of being ignored, publications like the Central Leader are happy to take money from business owners for advertising but when we stand up with something to say we are shown no respect and devalued. I don’t believe that this is what New Zealand stands for. This is a country that prides itself on equality for all, not just as a privilege for people who have followed the status quo”.

The  NZ People’s Party launch ed its campaign on Saturday night , drawing a crowd of more than 300 people.  Ironically, the debate which he is excluded from will be held at the same venue.

Yesterday his candidate nomination form was approved by the electorate commission and visits to shops and supermarkets in the electorate have resulted in impromptu public meetings. “I am here in Mt Roskill, ready to begin a conversation about real representation for all New Zealanders, this casual exclusion only proves the legitimacy of our claims and from here in this place, full of beautiful people we will bring change”.
