Battle for Life, an annual charity boxing event in Hawkes Bay, looks set for another fantastic turnout ahead of the Saturday, Sept 8 event held at the Hastings Sports Centre.

Based in Hawkes Bay, the annual charity boxing event features individual fighters from separate regions - particularly Manawatu and Hawkes Bay. The proceeds from the event will be donated to charity, and will be used to prevent, educate, and raise awareness around suicide in New Zealand.

The issue of suicide is a contentious one in New Zealand – annual statistics released by the Ministry of Justice indicate the mortality rate in 2018 through suicide is the highest it has ever been. Public awareness of the issue is growing, but without open discussion, many fear that the statistics will continue to rise.

Charity events such as Battle for Life go a long way in bringing awareness to the issue around New Zealand, and raising money for charities that are in desperate need of assistance.

Superloans, a popular instant finance and cash advance business, is the principal sponsor for the Battle for Life boxing event for the second year running. The event is organised by boxing legend Pat O’Brien.
