PUKEKOHE

Franklin District Council has initiated the second stage of the Pukekohe Town Centre Redevelopment by appointing Peter Robinson Contractors Ltd. The contractors are onsite preparing to begin construction on 14 January.

Starting in Hall Street and Seddon Lane the work, worth over two million dollars, will include redeveloping the service lanes behind the main retail area (excluding Edinburgh to Queen Street) and parts of Edinburgh Street, Hall Street, Queen Street, West Street and King Street. Construction includes the kerbing, stormwater and landscaping, plus redevelopment of paving, lighting, and seating where appropriate.

The redevelopment work is scheduled to take place over 30 weeks. In order to minimise any possible disturbance Council has directed the contractor to only work on two of the nine work sites at any time.

The contractor will work to keep any disruption to a minimum during construction. Work always progresses better with the support and patience of the local community and Council is grateful for the support this project has received so far.

Residents and business operators wanting more information can contact Franklin District Council’s Director of Operations and Services, Ian Alexander, after 21 January, on 09 237 1300.
