Join Mayor Jono Naylor for a 3.5km Mayoral Cycle Challenge on Saturday February 9, and win Palmerston North the title of ‘most cycle mad city’.

Mayor Naylor is inviting all Manawatu residents to come and help win the challenge. A host of local celebrities have already accepted, including; YoungHeart Manawatu and Jet’s players and MoreFM Dj’s.

The free cycle ride, run by Sport Manawatu, aims to have more people cycling with the Mayor than any other region.

Beginning at 10.15am at the Teachers College car park (Centennial Drive) cyclists will enjoy a leisurely 3.5km ride around the lagoon with games for the children afterwards.

“Palmerston North is the best city in New Zealand for cycling. Let’s prove it by getting as many people as we can out there cycling together. It’s not a long ride, so even if you haven’t ridden a bike for a while, why not shake the dust off your old bike and join us,“ says Mayor Naylor.

Registrations for the Cycle Challenge are from 9.00 – 10.00 am at the Teachers College carpark. This is an event the whole family can take part in, there will be spot prizes on the day along with an Avanti Bike and Crank It Cycles vouchers up for grabs. So make sure your family is there to make Palmerston North the most cycle mad city in New Zealand.
