PALMERSTON NORTH

The choicest passionate melodies played by Britain’s finest military band will waft over the Square during the evening of Valentine’s Day.

The City Council has engaged the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines to provide a free Valentine’s night concert in the events quadrant of the Square from 6.30-8pm on February 14.

Quick thinking by Arena Manawatu Manager, David Walsh, saw the band, which is playing at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth, engaged to perform the Valentine’s concert on their way to a British High Commission engagement in Wellington.

The 42 member band has thrilled audiences throughout the world and its performance in Palmerston North will be another free City Council attraction in February.

The alcohol free event can be enjoyed by all age groups who are invited to bring their cushions, seats and hampers and, especially by those people who want to rekindle or enrich the romance in their lives.

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will perform from a raised stage on the lawn of the events quadrant across from the City Library.
