LEVIN

At about 10.10 pm a resident of Hokio Beach Road disturbed two burglars attempting to break into a neighbouring property.

One of the offenders is described as a male Maori, mid 20's, short curly hair or dreadlocks, wearing a red T Shirt with orange writing, blue jeans and baseball cap. Offenders left in a white Mazda Familia car.

This vehicle is described as a 'boy-racer' type with distinctive white gothic style writing across the rear windscreen, sports exhaust and a body kit, is perhaps local to Levin. Levin Police would like information as to any sightings of this vehicle or information leading to its owner.

In a separate and unrelated incident earlier on Tuesday afternoon at about 3.30pm local residents reported seeing offenders breaking into a vehicle parked at Hokio Beach, whilst its owners had been swimming some distance away.

The residents provided good descriptions of the offenders and the registration number of the offender's vehicle. Police have been able to identify the offenders and are following up strong leads as a result.

Police would like to thank the local residents of Hokio Beach for their vigilance and cooperation.
