Youth charities to benefit from fun run

Three youth charities will receive a funding boost thanks to the HSBC Round the Bays Fun Run this Sunday 16 March.

They are Fairfax First Books, which provides reading resources to preschool children, Gifted Kids, which expands opportunities for gifted children, and the telephone counseling service, Youthline.

“A massive part of the Auckland community participate in HSBC Round the Bays and their entry fees assist us in making a contribution to these amazing causes,” says Sandra King, spokesperson for Fairfax Media.

“By entering HSBC Round the Bays you really can make a difference, and we urge you to take part in this fun, healthy morning.”

With nearly 50,000 official competitors, HSBC Round the Bays is one of the biggest events of its type in the world, and the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. It follows an 8.4km course spanning from the center of Auckland City to St Heliers.

HSBC Round the Bays is owned by Fairfax Media and the Auckland Joggers Club. Sponsors include HSBC, Provenco Technology, Coca-Cola Amatil New Zealand, Watercare Services Limited, and Alto.

HSBC Round the Bays’ wheelchair division starts at 9.15am on Sunday 16 March, followed by a general start for runners and walkers at 9.30am. The entry fee is $15 for adults and $10 for children aged under 16.
