Fast and furious film-makers are out and about in New Zealand this weekend for thee 48 hours film competition.

Prizes worth more than $75,000 are up for grabs in the V 48Hours Furious Film-making competition where 6000-plus movie makers try to write, shoot and edit a short film over one weekend.

Shorts screen during following weeks in theatres around the country with the winners from each city competing in finals against wildcards selected by Peter Jackson on C4.

Film-makers are allocated genres on the Friday night which can be anything from musical to superhero.
