School pride added motivation for riders at NZCT NZ Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships

Over 500 Secondary School students have flooded into Levin in preparation for the New Zealand Community Trust New Zealand Secondary Schools Mountain Bike Championships that take place this weekend (12th & 13th April).

 

The championships in their 11th year, hosted by Horowhenua College, have attracted the countries present and future champions including Samara Sheppard (Onslow College, Wellington) current Oceania and National Under 19 Cross Country Champion and Aari Barrett (Hastings Boys High School, Hawkes Bay) Oceania Under 19 Downhill Champion.

 

A long list of talent comprising from over 95 secondary schools from throughout New Zealand will compete in three disciplines, cross country, hill climb and downhill over the 2 day event being held in the Rayonier forest, east of Levin.

 

 

Timetable of Events:

Saturday April 12th Cross Country starting from 8.30am

Sunday April 13th Hill Climb starting from 8.30am

Sunday April 13th Downhill starting from 10.15am
