Yes the grass is greener but with very few reserves farmers are still facing a critical feed shortage.

While the rain had boosted morale more was needed along with continuing warm temperatures, East Coast Rural Support trust co-ordinator Chris Southgate said.

Dairy farmers were enjoying some grass growth but hill country farmers were still struggling.

Mr Southgate said that the Trust was receiving ongoing enquiries about the Rural Assistance fund which provides $230 per week for a couple with children and he urges people to contact him for information.

Meanwhile the recent Drought Busters dinner at Weber was attended by 120 people who enjoyed the night out and the guest speaker Rob Hewitt.
