PAHIATUA

Tree felling on Bernie’s Hill on the Pahiatua Track has removed a long time traffic hazard and will be good news for motorists.

The trees had been planted by the former Pahiatua County Council to make use of road reserve and were now at the end of their useful life, roading manager Trevor Bennett said. The intention is to replant them.

The trees gave an economic return to the council and were harvested and on sold by Feilding based contractor Forest Owner Marketing Services.
