Oram to address Papakura's May Business Breakfast

Award-winning Economic commentator Rod Oram will discuss the likely direction of the New Zealand economy at the Papakura Business Breakfast on Thursday May 1.


Oram, a former editor of the New Zealand Herald’s acclaimed Business section and adjunct professor at the Unitec Business School, will provide insights with the theme “Sailing close to the wind – New Zealand’s uncharted economics”.


Currently a contributing editor for Unlimited Magazine, Rod Oram uses his skills in journalism, management and leadership to help New Zealanders face some tough economic challenges and seize some exciting business opportunities.


He writes major features on economic, political and corporate topics and writes a monthly column on innovation. He also contributes a weekly column on business and economic issues for the Sunday Star-Times, writes for the Financial Times of London, and contributes to radio and television programmes.


Rod Oram has won the following awards:

2001 WestpacTrust Columnist of the Year

2000 Qantas Media Awards: best columnist (business and finance)

2000 WestpacTrust Awards, runner up best business feature writer


In 2007 he published his first book, "Reinventing Paradise" in which he talked about how New Zealand can become mobilised to "earn a bigger, sustainable living in the world economy".


The Papakura Business Breakfast takes place monthly at the Papakura Club in Croskery Road, from 7.30 am to 9.00 am.
