PAPAKURA

There are 22 newly-insulated homes in Papakura that will be more energy efficient, warmer and healthier for their occupants this winter thanks to Papakura’s involvement in the Snug Homes programme.

A further 15 homes are now being insulated and the organisers are calling for more participants. Snug Homes has approval and funding to insulate up to 100 Papakura properties.

It is the second year Papakura has been part of Snug Homes, a regional initiative that aims to create warm, healthy homes with special emphasis on homes occupied by families with children who are unwell due to cold and damp conditions.

To qualify for free insulation, houses must have been built before 1977 and the owner or occupier must have – or be eligible for – a Community Services Card. Interest free loans are available for those that do not meet the criteria. More information on the programme is available at www.ecoinsulation.co.nz or by phoning Ecoinsulation on 477 0270.
