Major Associations Dominate New Zealand 21s Badminton In Hamilton

The major associations of Waikato, Auckland, North Harbour and Waitakere once again dominated a badminton event in New Zealand with all of the semifinalists in all five draws at the New Zealand 21’s nationals held in Hamilton from those regions.
Waitakere teenager Ethan Haggo and Waikato’s Vina completed solid title wins as both players won their respective singles finals in straight games. Haggo the No1 player from the New Zealand world junior team in 2007 defeating Waikato player Bjorn Seguin 21-14 21-16. Vina defended her title with a win over Auckland’s Clare Chapple in the semis and then a straight game victory over North Harbour’s Jessica Jonggowisastro in the final.
Danielle Barry from Waitakere walked away with two titles teaming up with Henry Tam(Waitakere) in the mixed for a win over the Auckland pair of Kevin Dennerly-Minturn and Emma Rodgers.
Barry won the women’s doubles with Rogers accounting for Emma Chapple(Auckland) and Jonggowisastro.
The Dennerly-Minturn and Ashraf Dhoray won the men’s doubles beating William Bok and Henry Tam in three tight games 21-19 16-21 21-18 in the final.
