HAMILTON

It's time to get loud in the library.

During the last two weeks of May, Hamilton Central Library will open the floor to Waikato musicians and performers in celebration of New Zealand Music Month.

Running from May 20-29, Soundz Like Hamilton will see local musicians, bands and singers showcase their talent through a series of free lunchtime and evening performances, as well as a day of music on Saturday, May 24.

The event aims to promote up-and-coming music and dance stars, and provide a wide variety of music to cater to all tastes. Audiences will be entertained with everything from a 30-piece string orchestra to rock, alternative and country music.

It is the fourth year Hamilton Central Library has held Soundz Like Hamilton.

Local musicians were invited to register to perform at the event, and organisers also contacted previous participants and local schools for expressions of interest.

It is not too late for local musicians to register their interest in performing. They can register by emailing community.programmes@hcc.govt.nz  or calling 838 6842.

For more information check out the gig guide on the Hamilton City Libraries website at www.hamiltonlibraries.co.n z or contact Simone, Barry or Dawn on (07) 838 6842.
