WELLINGTON

Sixteen children from KidsCan – a charitable trust dedicated to meeting the basic physical needs of financially disadvantaged kids in low decile schools - were special guests at BurgerFuel Courtney Place on Saturday evening.

BurgerFuel invited the kids and their parent helpers for a bite to eat on their way to see the All Blacks v Ireland at Westpac Stadium.

Carl Sunderland, Operations Manager for KidsCan, said: "We really appreciate the team at BurgerFuel coming on board to help make this truly special experience for the children.

"The kids we took to the match have never been to a live game before and it was a great chance for them to see their All Black heroes up close and feel the atmosphere."
The KidsCan Trust was founded in August 2005 after research in 100 low decile schools found an alarming number of New Zealand children were missing out on the basics most of us take for granted. The Trust currently supports 20,000 financially disadvantaged children in 93 low decile schools throughout New Zealand providing food, raincoats, shoes and socks.

In 2006 Massey University found KidsCan programmes have contributed to an increase in self esteem, pride and attendance at school with enthusiasm for learning also improved.
