Serious assault in Alexandra

The Police in Central Otago are investigating an incident that has resulted in a wound to the chest of a male victim which has necessitated his transport by helicopter to Dunedin hospital following initial assessment at Dunstan hospital.

The incident is believed to have occurred on the out skirts of Alexandra at around 8 to 8.30 pm on Thursday evening the 26th of June 2008.

The details of the incident are sketchy at this stage and the investigation team are currently interviewing persons in order to establish the facts.

The condition of the 22 year old victim is understood to be serious but stable.

The Police are interested in any sightings of either a dark coloured Toyota Camry or a Silver/grey Subaru motor car, travelling within Alexandra township on the evening of Thursday the 26th June 2008 and in particular, around the Centennial Ave, Boundary Road areas.
