New Building Regulations For Insulation

New home builders must now be prepared for more stringent requirements to insulate their houses because of changes to the building code, council’s manager environmental services Mike Brown advises.

The changes are gradually being phased in around the country starting last year with the South Island and the North Island Central Plateau and extending now to the lower North Island.

The requirements centre around increased insulation, double glazing and window size and details will be available from council staff.
