Waikato Armed Offender Squad assist in Whitianga

Working in support of their Whitianga colleagues, members of the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad executed a search warrant at an address north of Whitianga this afternoon.

Waikato District Operations Manager, Inspector John Kelly, said the officers were called to the address following a domestic incident.

"As a result of this incident our officers set up a cordon and containment operation and then proceeded to make appeals for the occupant of the house to surrender to no avail.

"Gaining no response tear gas rounds were discharged and staff then went in to clear the property, no shots were fired," said Mr Kelly.

Finding no-one inside the house Police enquiries are continuing in the area to try and locate the occupant.
