Franklin District Council has released a second draft of the Heritage Strategy Discussion Document, giving you another chance to let Council know what you think. It also gives those who have already given feedback an opportunity to see how that feedback has been responded to.

“When you visit our website you can download the second draft and you can also download a summary of comments made on the first discussion document. Both documents help to show how we have arrived at what is presented in this second draft,” says Franklin District Council’s District Planning Manager, David Pentz.

Also on Council’s website – www.franklin.govt.nz – you can fill in an online comment form to help make it as easy as possible to give your feedback to Council.

The Heritage Strategy is slightly different from other strategies prepared by Council as it is a holistic Strategy rather than solely Council focused. The Strategy suggests that a number of groups provide a coordinated approach to the management of the District’s heritage resources. These groups would include Council, private landowners, tangata whenua and organisations specialising in the protection and maintenance of historic and cultural heritage resources.

“It has been great to have such enthusiastic involvement from many groups and individuals so far and we hope this second draft will allow people to have even more input into planning for heritage protection and promotion within Franklin,” says David.
