NORTHLAND

A summary of the situation in the Far North as at 9 a.m. today is:-

 

* Road closures

Broadwood/Paponga Rds junction– very large tree across road – closed till about noon

Matauri Bay Rd – near clay works – road closed till about noon

Tirohanga Rd – tree across road

Whangae Rd– still closed by large slip

Koutu Beach Rd – trees across road

 

* Lemons Hill (SH11)- open again to traffic

 

* The Hokianga ferry is running again today.

 

Overnight: Numerous reports including roofs lifting at Kerikeri, Kaikohe, trees across roads, tree falling on ute (no injury), loss of power supplies, boat(s) aground at Mangonui (please contact Fire Services/Top Energy/Police for details where appropriate)

 

Today: The concentration will be on cleaning up/ damage assessment.
