After a series of engineering problems, the AC Baths pump has now been fixed and the pools are ready to reopen to the public tomorrow (Saturday 23 August). The AC Baths complex has been closed for four days.
Recreation Manager Thunes Cloete said, “We apologise to swimmers for the inconvenience of the closure and will do everything in our power to prevent this from happening again”.
All facilities will reopen tomorrow (Saturday 23 August), including the slides and the indoor and outdoor pools, however swimmers should be aware that temperatures within the training pools will still be slightly cooler than normal. The AC Baths team expects the temperatures to be back to normal (around 35 degrees) on Monday.
Whilst the pools have been closed, the AC Baths team has used the time to carry out maintenance work that was otherwise programmed in for October.
As a result of the problems experienced this week, the existing maintenance schedule for the pools pumps and motors will be critically reviewed.
