STRATFORD

The Stratford District Youth Council has issued a challenge to other Stratford groups and organisations: help keep Stratford beautiful!

The challenge was issued today by Youth Council Chairman Ngawai Matthews, as she planted a Dawn Redwood tree in King Edward Park. “It’s really important to be keeping our community clean, tidy and healthy. We would like to see others follow our lead.”

“Clean Up New Zealand week is coming up,” Ngawai said, “and this is the ideal opportunity for local groups, organisations and businesses to get out there and do something positive. If you decide to do a clean up, the Council will even provide free bags, gloves and rubbish pick up.”

“Keeping the place you live in clean shows you have great pride in your town,” says Ngawai. “I look forward to seeing all of Stratford take part in Clean Up New Zealand week!”

Clean Up New Zealand Week runs from 5 to 12 September 2008. Register for free bags, gloves and rubbish pick up by calling the Council on 06 765 6099.
