FEILDING residents are being asked to restrict water use next Wednesday night as a section of the existing trunkmain in Kimbolton Road undergoes preventive maintenance.

The conservation request runs from 10pm on Wednesday, September 17, until 6am on Thursday, September 18.

Water and Wastewater Projects Engineer, Rachel Bond, said work on the trunkmain, which linked the Almadale Water Treatment plant to Feilding, would be carried out near the BP service station.

She said a new 450mm diameter valve was to be installed to enable the town to be supplied via Almadale or the bores on Campbell Rd.

“During the shut down, residents are asked to restrict water use as during this time the township supply will be reliant on the Fraser Drive reservoir’s storage capacity,” said Ms Bond.

“We advise residents to fill containers with an appropriate amount of water to cover essential needs prior to this time.”

Manawatu District Council has a limited supply of water bottles (two per household) for anyone caught short and these can be picked up from council contractors outside the service station from 10pm to midnight.
