Stabbing overnight in Avondale

At about 2.40 am this morning Police were called to an address in Great North Road, Avondale. On arrival, they found a 23 year old female who had been stabbed several times with what is believed to be a knife.

She was taken to hospital via ambulance in a serious condition and is currently under going surgery.

This morning, investigators are speaking with several occupants of the address where the incident happened, will be conducting a scene examination as well as visiting neighbouring addresses in an attempt to identify further witnesses.

As well, Police are visiting addresses in the Avondale area in an effort to locate a male person known to the victim, who is suspected of being involved in the stabbing.
